New Tesla Model Y caught undisguised ahead of imminent launch

The highly anticipated Tesla Model Y has finally shed its camouflage in a set of new images that have been making the rounds on social media, building up excitement for its upcoming launch.

These images confirm earlier reports that the electric SUV will showcase a completely revamped design, with striking LED light bars adorning both the front and rear ends. The addition of more prominent air intakes at the front gives the Model Y a distinct appearance from its sibling, the Tesla Model 3, which received an update last year.

The unveiling of these images follows recent sightings of the EV being tested in Europe, further fueling anticipation for its release.

The Model Y has been a massive commercial success for Tesla, solidifying its position as the brand’s most valuable asset. With the company experiencing a decline in sales, particularly due to the lack of updates to the Model Y over the past five years, Tesla is banking on the revamped model to reinvigorate interest and sales.

One of the key areas of focus for the updated Model Y will be addressing its diminishing competitive edge in terms of range and performance. The SUV’s once impressive 331-mile range has now been surpassed by more affordable competitors like the Skoda Enyaq and Peugeot e-3008.

Similar to the improvements made to the Model 3, the Model Y’s facelift will involve significant enhancements to its aerodynamics and electronics to increase its range and efficiency. The redesigned front end, inspired by the updated Model 3, features a reshaped bumper that enhances aerodynamics, reduces wind resistance, and improves overall range.

The Model 3’s drag coefficient was successfully lowered from 0.23 to 0.219 with similar design tweaks, making it one of the most aerodynamic vehicles on the market.
