Dacia to Introduce All-Wheel-Drive Duster with Hybrid Technology

Dacia is set to launch an all-wheel-drive version of the popular Duster SUV with an electrified back axle by the end of this year. The announcement was made by company CEO Denis Le Vot during a press conference at the 2025 Car of the Year final, where the Duster is a finalist for the prestigious award.

Le Vot revealed that the new hybrid version of the Duster will feature an e-motor on the rear axle, making it both hybrid and automatic. In addition, there will also be an LPG version available, all at an affordable price point that aligns with Dacia’s reputation for value.

This new hybrid variant will join the existing lineup, which includes a 1.0-litre bi-fuel engine, a 1.2-litre mild hybrid, and a 1.6-litre full hybrid from the Jogger model. With prices currently starting just above £26,000, the new 4×4 hybrid Duster is expected to be priced closer to £30,000.

It is anticipated that the hybrid powertrain will eventually be offered in other models sharing the CMF-B platform, such as the Bigster, Dacia Jogger, Nissan Juke, Nissan Qashqai, and Renault Captur.

While an electric version of the Duster is on the horizon, Dacia’s first electric vehicle will be the Sandero in 2027. The Duster is likely to receive an electric powertrain in its next generation, expected around 2030/31.

Le Vot also shared that the new Duster has been a top performer in the European SUV market, holding the number one spot for retail sales among SUVs of all sizes as of November.
