Aston Martin Vantage Roadster brings 656bhp V8

The new Aston Martin Vantage Roadster has undergone a significant upgrade, making it one of the most powerful drop-top sports cars currently available on the market. With a remarkable 656bhp and 590lb ft of torque from a revised version of the existing twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine, this Roadster surpasses its 505bhp predecessor and has been engineered to deliver a more dynamic driving experience.

In terms of power, the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster now outperforms competitors such as the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet and Ferrari Roma. Its impressive power levels even put it in competition with models from a higher class, like the Maserati MC20 Cielo and McLaren Artura Spider.

This new drop-top model follows the successful launch of the Vantage coupĂ© nearly a year ago, which Aston Martin hailed as “the most driver-focused and fastest Vantage in the famous nameplate’s 74-year history.” Drawing power from the same Mercedes-AMG-derived engine as the coupĂ©, the Roadster is slightly heavier due to additional reinforcement and roof mechanisms. However, it still matches the coupĂ©’s performance with a 0-62mph time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed limited to 202mph.

The extensive overhaul of the V8 engine includes new cam profiles, larger turbos, tweaked compression ratios, and improved cooling. Aston Martin has also fine-tuned the eight-speed automatic gearbox for faster gear changes and more responsive in-gear acceleration. The result is a car that can rival the outgoing 690bhp V12 Vantage Roadster, the most powerful convertible ever produced by Aston Martin.

To enhance driving dynamics, the aluminium chassis has been reinforced, maintaining a near-50:50 weight distribution. The suspension setup includes double wishbones at the front and multi-link at the rear, with the rear end now up to 29% stiffer under load. Bespoke-tuned Bilstein DRX adaptive dampers further improve responsiveness and handling, providing drivers with enhanced feedback and control.

Overall, the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster combines stunning performance with dynamic handling, making it a top contender in the world of high-performance sports cars. Whether cruising along the coast or tackling winding mountain roads, this drop-top delivers an exhilarating driving experience that is sure to impress even the most discerning automotive enthusiasts.
