DS 4 to gain electric option and new name in mid-life facelift

The DS 4, a popular premium hatchback from the French manufacturer, is set to undergo a significant facelift this year. One of the most exciting changes is the introduction of an electric variant, which is sure to increase the model’s appeal, especially in markets like the UK where there is a growing demand for electric vehicles. The electric DS 4 will share the same EMP platform as the recently updated Citroen ë-C4, offering customers a choice of powertrain options.

The electric version of the DS 4 will come with two different powertrain options. The entry-level model will feature a 134bhp motor and a 50kWh battery, providing a range of 223 miles. For those looking for more power and range, there will also be a 154bhp motor paired with a 54kWh battery, offering up to 260 miles of range on a single charge.

In addition to the electric variant, the combustion model of the DS 4 is expected to be offered exclusively with the e-DCS6 hybrid powertrain. This hybrid system will be based around a 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine, with the diesel option being phased out due to declining demand for diesel vehicles.

The facelifted DS 4 will also undergo a name change, being rebranded as the DS No4 to align with the brand’s new naming strategy. This change follows the introduction of the flagship DS No8, which was recently unveiled by the manufacturer. Spy pictures of the updated DS No4 show that it will draw design inspiration from its larger sibling, including a sleeker front grille and sharper LED headlights reminiscent of the No8.

Overall, the facelifted DS No4 promises to offer customers a more modern and stylish option in the premium hatchback segment. With the addition of an electric variant and a fresh design, the DS No4 is sure to continue its success as one of the brand’s best-selling models. Stay tuned for the official launch of the updated DS No4 in September.
