The UK: Polestar’s Biggest Market

According to Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller, the UK is the brand’s largest market, citing the country’s agility and adaptability to change as key factors in its success. Lohscheller believes that the UK’s ability to quickly pivot and respond to customer needs has contributed to Polestar’s growth in the region.

Recent data shows promising results, with UK Polestar orders doubling in the fourth quarter of last year. Lohscheller also points to the presence of Polestar’s Coventry R&D centre as a strategic advantage, where the highly anticipated Polestar 5 is currently undergoing final development ahead of its launch later this year.

“The Coventry team should be proud of the Polestar 5,” Lohscheller expressed. “With its advanced bonded-aluminium technology, 900bhp, and 800V technology, it will be our flagship model and one of the most advanced cars globally.”

Looking ahead, Lohscheller hinted at a shift in Polestar’s design direction under the leadership of new design boss Philipp Römers, formerly of Audi. While praising the current design achievements, Lohscheller emphasized the need to convey the performance capabilities of Polestar cars more prominently.

“Our cars should exude confidence and capability,” Lohscheller stated. “I’ve tasked Philipp with subtly enhancing our design language to better reflect the performance of our vehicles.”

Opinion: Michael Lohscheller’s Evolution at Polestar

Formerly tied to the constraints of traditional car companies like Opel, Michael Lohscheller has found a new sense of freedom at Polestar. Liberated from the financial struggles and bureaucratic hurdles of his past roles, Lohscheller now has the opportunity to lead a brand at the forefront of innovation and performance.
