JackRabbit, known for its compact electric microbikes, has introduced a new product that allows riders to recharge their batteries using solar power. The Solar Charging Kit from JackRabbit is designed to keep riders on the move even when traditional power sources are not readily available.

The kit includes a folding solar panel and a voltage converter that outputs 42.0V, the exact voltage required by JackRabbit’s e-bike batteries. It also features USB-A and USB-C charging ports for powering other devices in addition to the e-bike batteries. According to the company, the Solar Charging Kit plugs directly into the bike and provides comparable charging speed to the standard charger.

With an output of around 80W, the solar panel can recharge JackRabbit’s batteries in just three hours. The company’s batteries are small, measuring 151 Wh, making them easy to charge and carry on adventures. For riders looking to extend their range, extra batteries can easily fit in a pocket. Additionally, JackRabbit offers larger Rangebuster batteries for those who need more power.

The $349 Solar Charging Kit is specifically designed for JackRabbit’s micro e-bikes but may also work with other 36V e-bikes that require a 42.0V charge. While there have been other solar charging kits for electric bikes, JackRabbit’s offering stands out for its convenience and compatibility with their batteries.

This trend of solar charging kits is popular among outdoor enthusiasts, campers, festival-goers, and anyone who spends extended periods outdoors with their e-bike. The ability to harness solar power for recharging provides a sustainable and convenient solution for staying powered up on the go.
