Xiaomi has recently announced a recall plan for 30,931 units of its SU7 electric sedans due to a faulty autonomous parking system. The recall was initiated after an incident was reported by an owner of a Xiaomi SU7 Standard version on November 14. The incident occurred during the autonomous parking process, where the car’s detection system malfunctioned, leading to scratches and collisions.
According to Xiaomi, the affected vehicles were manufactured between February 6, 2024, and November 26, 2024. The recall specifically targets SU7 Standard variants with internal numbers BJ7000MBEVR2, XMA7000MBEVR2, and XMA7000MBEVR5. The issue with the autonomous parking function was identified as a failure of the cloud service’s timing synchronization. Xiaomi has since implemented preventive measures through the cloud service and added redundant protection strategy measures to ensure the safety of the smart parking assistance feature.
After thorough testing and verification, Xiaomi has confirmed the effectiveness and reliability of their solution. As a result, the company has announced an OTA software upgrade recall for affected SU7 owners. This means that owners will be able to update the software of their vehicles remotely without the need to visit authorized service centers.
The Xiaomi SU7 is an electric sedan that was launched in China on March 28. With cumulative sales of 139,487 units, the SU7 has proven to be a popular choice among consumers. The sedan boasts dimensions of 4997/1963/1455 mm and a wheelbase of 3000 mm. It is available in two variants – Standard and Pro, both of which are rear-wheel drive and equipped with a single 220 kW electric motor.
The Standard variant comes with a 73.6 kWh battery that offers a range of up to 700 km, while the Pro variant features a larger 94.3 kWh battery with a range of up to 830 km. The SU7 Max model, on the other hand, is equipped with a dual-motor setup, with a combined power output of 495 kW. It comes with a 101 kWh battery pack that provides an impressive range of 800 km.
The Xiaomi SU7 is priced between 215,900 – 299,900 yuan (21,600 – 41,150 USD) and is available in 10 different body colors, including a vibrant pink shade called Magenta. Overall, the SU7 offers a blend of performance, range, and style, making it a compelling choice in the electric sedan segment.
