Valeo Expands Localization Efforts with New Energy Lighting Facility in Changshu, China
Valeo, a leading global supplier of smart cabin and lighting solutions, celebrated the grand opening of Valeo New Energy Lighting (Changshu) Co., Ltd. on January 16, 2025. This event marked a significant milestone in Valeo’s commitment to localizing its special lighting research and production capabilities in China.
China’s importance in Valeo’s lighting innovations cannot be overstated. In 2024, Valeo’s China team successfully developed a dynamic smart LED ambient lighting system for Geely’s premium new energy vehicle brand ZEEKR. This achievement earned Valeo a prestigious spot in the “Top 100 Players of China’s New Automotive Supply Chain” rankings at the Gasgoo Awards 2024.
The cutting-edge lighting system features 170 independently controlled LEDs that allow for customizable colors and brightness levels. Integrated seamlessly with vehicle communication systems, this system boasts a refined optical lens design and 8mm light source spacing to deliver smooth and dynamic visual effects for a variety of cabin lighting scenarios.
Valeo initially established its presence in Changshu in 2016, with the site serving as a key production base for wiper systems and new energy power systems in China. The establishment of Valeo New Energy Lighting (Changshu) Co., Ltd. on February 4, 2024, further expands Valeo’s presence in the region. The 8,000-square-meter intelligent production facility is set to double in size to 16,000 square meters by 2026.
The new facility will focus on producing a wide range of lighting products, including ambient lighting systems, human-machine interaction lighting, high-mounted brake lights, rear position lamps, emblem lights, and grille lighting. This expansion will not only enhance Valeo’s innovation capabilities but also strengthen its manufacturing presence in China.
With the inauguration of Valeo’s new energy lighting facility in Changshu, the company reaffirms its commitment to localizing its operations and driving innovation in the Chinese automotive market. The new facility’s advanced production capabilities and focus on cutting-edge lighting solutions position Valeo as a key player in the region’s automotive supply chain.
