Henan Province Announces Toll Fee Exemption for Hydrogen-Powered Trucks

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The General Office of the People’s Government of Henan Province recently issued a notice detailing a new policy that will benefit hydrogen-powered trucks traveling on toll roads within the province. From January 25 to December 31, 2025, these vehicles will be exempted from toll fees. Additionally, battery electric trucks will receive a 30% discount on toll fees during the same period.

The notice also includes a special incentive for industrial electricity pricing during off-peak hours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. between January 28 and February 6, coinciding with China’s Spring Festival holiday. Industrial enterprises will benefit from reduced electricity rates during this period to promote the use of renewable energy sources.

Hydrogen is recognized for its high energy density, zero emissions, and widespread availability, making it a popular choice as an energy resource. Currently, hydrogen is predominantly used in fuel cell vehicles, which utilize hydrogen to generate electricity with high efficiency and minimal noise.

Several provinces in China, such as Shandong, Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Jilin, have already implemented or are exploring toll exemption policies for hydrogen-powered vehicles. In February 2024, Shandong announced a two-year toll exemption for hydrogen-powered vehicles equipped with ETC devices, effective March 1, 2024, to facilitate their operation across different regions.
