Ferrari is set to make a groundbreaking move in the automotive market with the launch of its first-ever all-electric vehicle later this year. The Italian luxury car manufacturer has confirmed plans to unveil its electric car as part of a lineup of six new vehicles set to debut in 2025. While details about the electric vehicle have been kept under wraps, the anticipation is high as Ferrari prepares to shake up the industry.

The official announcement came after Ferrari released its 2024 earnings, revealing that the company will showcase the electric car during its Capital Markets Day on October 9. Ferrari’s CEO, Benedetto Vigna, expressed excitement about the launch, promising that the new electric model will embody the fun and exhilaration that the Ferrari brand is known for. Despite the extended development timeline, Vigna assured enthusiasts that the electric car will be crafted with the same attention to detail and performance that defines Ferrari.

The electric vehicle will stay true to Ferrari’s legacy by featuring signature design elements and (emulated) sounds that evoke the brand’s iconic identity. Reports suggest that the price of Ferrari’s first electric car could exceed 500,000 euros, equivalent to around $535,000, although official pricing details are yet to be confirmed. Vigna hinted that the final price will be determined closer to the launch date, adding to the anticipation surrounding the new model.

With prototypes of the electric car spotted testing in public, enthusiasts got a glimpse of what to expect from Ferrari’s foray into electric mobility. Videos and images captured during testing revealed new design elements such as headlights and body panels, hinting at a blend of innovation and tradition in the upcoming model. The sound system, reminiscent of a traditional exhaust note, suggests that Ferrari is prioritizing an immersive driving experience even in its electric vehicles.

Ferrari’s commitment to electrification is further exemplified by the opening of its new e-building, where the first EV will be manufactured. The facility will also produce e-motors, batteries, and inverters for future electric and plug-in hybrid models. By the end of next year, Ferrari aims to have 60% of its sales come from electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles, marking a significant shift towards sustainable mobility. In 2024, the company’s shipments were divided almost evenly between hybrid and internal combustion engine vehicles, signaling a strategic shift towards greener alternatives.

As Ferrari gears up for the launch of its first electric vehicle, the automotive world eagerly awaits the unveiling of this groundbreaking model that promises to redefine the future of luxury electric cars.
