BYD, a leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has introduced the Yuan Up in Europe under the name Atto 2. This compact SUV is the ninth model BYD has launched in the European market, showcasing the company’s commitment to providing innovative and sustainable transportation solutions.

The Yuan Up, with a length of 4,310 mm, offers a WLTP range of 312 km, making it a suitable option for European consumers seeking comfort and agility in urban environments. Equipped with blade batteries and advanced cabin technology, this model presents a compelling alternative for those looking for a smart urban EV.

Stella Li, BYD’s executive vice president, highlighted the significance of the B-segment SUV market in Europe and expressed confidence in the Yuan Up’s appeal to a wide range of potential customers. She emphasized that the model incorporates BYD’s cutting-edge technologies in batteries and body structure, catering to the demand for compact urban SUVs in the region.

In China, BYD initially launched the Yuan Up in March 2024, offering four variants at competitive prices. The European version of the compact SUV retains the same dimensions as its Chinese counterpart, ensuring consistency in design and performance across markets.

With a front-mounted motor generating 130 kW of power and 290 Nm of torque, the Yuan Up can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.9 seconds. Additionally, the model boasts a WLTP combined range of 312 km and a city range of 463 km, showcasing its efficiency and practicality for urban driving.

BYD’s successful expansion in Europe includes the introduction of eight battery electric vehicle (BEV) models, such as the Atto 2, Sealion 7, Dolphin, Han, Seal, Seal U, Tang, and one plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) model, the Seal U DM-i. The company’s diverse product portfolio reflects its commitment to offering a wide range of EV options to cater to different consumer preferences.

The Yuan Up faces competition from established European rivals in the B-segment SUV market, including the Peugeot e-2008, Citroen e-C3, Opel Mokka-e, Fiat 600e, Kia Niro, and the upcoming Renault R4. Despite the competitive landscape, BYD remains optimistic about the Yuan Up’s potential to carve out a niche for itself among European consumers seeking sustainable and efficient transportation solutions.

Overall, the introduction of the Yuan Up in Europe underscores BYD’s continued efforts to expand its presence in the global EV market and offer innovative EV models that combine performance, technology, and sustainability.
