Nio to launch new models or facelifts every quarter from Q2 onwards, CEO says

Nio (NYSE: NIO) is gearing up for a big year in 2025 with a series of new product launches and updates to its existing models. The company’s founder, chairman, and CEO William Li recently shared some exciting details during a live video stream on the short-form video platform Douyin.

According to Li, Nio will be introducing new products every quarter from the second quarter to the fourth quarter of this year. This includes facelifted versions of their main selling models such as the ET5, ET5 Touring, ES6, and EC6. These facelifted models will feature minor exterior changes and updated interiors, with a notable shift to horizontal center screens instead of vertical ones. Additionally, these models will be equipped with Nio’s own Shenji autonomous driving chip.

Li hinted that the upcoming facelifted models may be showcased in a regulatory filing catalog from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) expected to be released next week. He also mentioned that the pricing of these facelifted models will not be lower than the current models, making it an opportune time for potential customers to consider purchasing a Nio vehicle.

During an earnings call in November 2024, Li had already hinted at the company’s ambitious plans for 2025, including a goal to double full-year sales compared to 2024. The launch of the ET9 sedan at the Nio Day 2024 event in Guangzhou was a significant milestone, with deliveries set to begin in March. The ET9 is the first model to feature Nio’s proprietary Shenji NX9031 autonomous driving chip, signaling the company’s commitment to innovation and technological advancement.

Nio’s decision to adopt horizontal center screens for its new models aligns with industry trends, following in the footsteps of Tesla and other leading electric vehicle manufacturers. This shift aims to enhance user experience by improving the presentation of entertainment information within the vehicle.

With a focus on new product launches and updates, Nio is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market in 2025. Customers can expect a range of exciting offerings from the company, setting the stage for a dynamic year of growth and innovation.
