Introducing Smart’s New #6 Flagship: A High-Performance Electric Saloon
Smart is gearing up to reveal its highly anticipated #6 flagship model later this year, promising to be the brand’s fastest and most advanced offering yet. With an impressive power output of over 630bhp in its most powerful configuration, this sleek four-door saloon is set to rival the popular Tesla Model 3.
Designed with a strong emphasis on range, the #6 boasts a streamlined body that makes it the most aerodynamic Smart model to date. This focus on efficiency allows the car to offer a range of “well over 800km” (497 miles) on the Chinese CLTC test cycle, with a WLTP figure expected to be similar to the Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive’s 436 miles.
Expected to make its debut in the second half of 2025, the Smart #6 will hit UK showrooms in early 2026. While primarily developed as an electric vehicle, the #6 will also be available with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain to cater to markets where electric vehicle adoption is still in progress.
Details about the styling of the #6 remain under wraps, but it is said to feature a distinctive raked roofline and design elements reminiscent of Smart’s existing models. The car will ride on wheels ranging from 19 inches to 21 inches, with frameless doors adding to its modern aesthetic.
Underpinning the Smart #6 is the Geely-developed PMA2+ platform, derived from the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) for EVs. This platform, shared with models like the Polestar 4, supports both 400V and 800V electric architectures, enabling the #6 to achieve a charging capability of up to 400kW.
Powertrain options for the #6 will include single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive configurations, with power outputs expected to range from 335bhp to 597bhp. A high-performance Brabus model is also in the works, aiming to challenge the Tesla Model 3 Performance with its four-wheel drive setup and up to 638bhp.
Customers will have a choice of battery options, with a 75kWh LFP unit for 400V rear-drive models and a 100kWh NMC pack for 800V rear- and four-wheel-drive models. The combination of cutting-edge technology, impressive performance, and a focus on range make the Smart #6 a compelling choice in the electric saloon segment.
