Gordon Murray Group announces new Special Vehicles arm

The Gordon Murray Group Launches Special Vehicles Division

The Gordon Murray Group has recently announced the launch of a new Special Vehicles division in response to the growing demand for bespoke models. This new division will operate independently from Gordon Murray Automotive and will have its own dedicated engineering staff.

The Special Vehicles division will focus on producing a range of cars, including limited-edition variations of the T50 and T33 supercars, as well as one-off productions built on a brand-new platform. In addition, the division will also oversee a heritage operation that will involve building new examples of classic Murray-built models to their original specifications, as well as creating “reimagined” classics with modern specifications.

Gordon Murray explained that while the company had previously resisted requests for one-off versions of the T50 in order to prioritize the launch of the T50 and T33, the establishment of a separate design and engineering department for Gordon Murray Special Vehicles has enabled them to expand their offerings to include special vehicles.

The first bespoke car from the Special Vehicles division is set to be unveiled later this year, marking an important milestone for the group as it aims to increase production and solidify its position as a luxury brand alongside marques such as Bentley, Ferrari, and Lamborghini.

Bespoke operations have proven to be lucrative for luxury brands in recent years, with Rolls-Royce reporting record-breaking sales in 2024 for its customization offerings. The company has invested £300 million in its Goodwood factory to enhance its capacity for bespoke cars and coachbuilding, highlighting the growing importance of personalized and unique vehicles in the luxury market.
