Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC) have collaborated to create a new automotive brand called Maextro. The brand is set to launch its first model, the Maextro S800, at the Shenzhen auto show at the end of May. This move is aimed at tapping into the ultra-luxury sedan market.

The Maextro S800 will come in two variants – extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV). Both variants will share the same dimensions, including a length of 5,480 mm, width of 2,000 mm, height of 1,536 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,370 mm. Customers can choose between 4-seat and 5-seat versions for both variants.

The EREV variant will be powered by an 800V high-voltage battery pack with a capacity of 65 kWh, supporting 6C fast charging. The battery can be recharged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 10.5 minutes. On the other hand, the BEV variant will feature a 5C battery pack that takes 12 minutes to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent.

Safety is a key focus for the Maextro S800, with the model able to anticipate and respond to road conditions 200 to 50 milliseconds in advance. In adverse weather conditions like rain and snow, the model can anticipate the risk of skidding and increase emergency avoidance speeds up to 80 kilometers per hour.

The Maextro S800 is designed on an L3 autonomous driving architecture, equipped with 32 sensors, including four LiDARs. Despite its large sedan size, the model boasts the driving agility of a small car. It also supports rear-wheel steering, reducing the turning radius to just 5.05 meters.

This is the fourth new brand created by Huawei in partnership with a local car company, following Stelato, Aito, and Luxeed. The Maextro S800 was unveiled on November 26, 2024, with an expected price range of RMB 1 million to RMB 1.5 million.

The launch of the Maextro S800 signifies Huawei’s continued efforts in the electric vehicle market, with a focus on luxury and advanced technology. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new model from Maextro.
