Fang Cheng Bao, a sub-brand of BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), is gearing up to introduce Smart Driving editions of the Bao 5, featuring Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 software. This move comes after the successful integration of Huawei’s technology in the Bao 8 model.

The Bao 5 recently made an appearance in a regulatory catalog, hinting at the inclusion of LiDAR technology. This advanced feature is set to enhance the vehicle’s smart driving capabilities, making it a standout in the market.

Scheduled for launch on February 21, the Smart Driving editions of the Bao 5 are expected to revolutionize the driving experience with cutting-edge technology. Fang Cheng Bao’s collaboration with Huawei underscores a commitment to innovation and excellence in the automotive industry.

BYD officially unveiled the Fang Cheng Bao brand in August 2023, introducing the Bao 5 off-road SUV as its inaugural model. The plug-in hybrid vehicle boasts the FiPilot smart driving system, designed exclusively for Fang Cheng Bao vehicles.

The partnership between Fang Cheng Bao and Huawei dates back to August 2024 when they announced a cooperation agreement to develop smart driving solutions for hardcore off-road vehicles. This collaboration has led to groundbreaking advancements in intelligent driving technology.

In November 2024, Fang Cheng Bao launched the Bao 8, the first model under the BYD umbrella to feature Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 software. This driver assistance system offers advanced features like city NOA (Navigate on Autopilot), setting new standards for intelligent driving.

The recent inclusion of the Bao 5 in China’s MIIT regulatory catalog signifies a significant milestone for Fang Cheng Bao. The vehicle’s integration of LiDAR technology represents a strategic move towards enhancing its smart driving capabilities.
