Rivian and Ben & Jerry’s have collaborated to introduce the world to the electric ice cream truck of the future. The “Scoop Truck” is set to make its debut at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas this week, giving fans a first look at this innovative vehicle. After the initial debut, the electric scoop truck will hit the road, making stops at Rivian community events and upcoming events in Vermont, the home state of Ben & Jerry’s.
This unique ice cream truck is based on Rivian’s Commercial Van, which was recently launched in the US. Rivian, known for its Electric Delivery Vans (EDVs) for Amazon, has now opened up the possibility of partnerships with other companies, such as Ben & Jerry’s. The Commercial Van will allow for more events, catering gigs, and the distribution of ice cream with its impressive range of up to 161 miles.
Sean Slattery, Ben & Jerry’s US integrated Marketing Project lead, humorously commented on the collaboration stating, “Rivian helped Ben & Jerry’s reduce our reliance on fossil fuels in a small way, while making things a little bit cooler… which, as an ice cream company, is extremely difficult to do.”
The Rivian electric van comes in two models: the Delivery 500 and 700, with prices starting at $79,900 and $83,900 respectively. The smaller Delivery 500 model is ideal for navigating city streets, while the larger Delivery 700 model offers more cargo space for storage.
Both Rivian and Ben & Jerry’s are committed to a cleaner future, making this partnership a natural fit. The electric ice cream truck represents a step towards sustainable transportation and innovative collaborations in the automotive industry.
