REGENT, a company at the forefront of electric seaglider technology, has successfully completed the first on-water tests of the world’s first full-scale electric seaglider. This revolutionary vessel combines the speed of an aircraft with the convenience of traveling by boat, offering a new and exciting mode of transportation.
Founded in 2020 by Billy Thalheimer and Mike Klinker, both Aerospace Engineering graduates from MIT with experience at Boeing’s subsidiary, Aurora Flight Sciences, REGENT has quickly gained traction in the industry. With backing from prominent investors like Mark Cuban, Peter Thiel, and Lockheed Martin, the company has secured over $9 billion in orders across six continents.
The electric seaglider, named “Viceroy,” is a 12-passenger prototype that measures 55 feet in length with a wingspan of 65 feet, making it the largest fully electric “flying machine” of its kind. It features three modes of operation: floating on the hull, foiling above the water on hydrofoils, and flying within one wingspan on the water.
Powered by a 120 kW motor and electric battery, the seaglider can travel at speeds of up to 180 mph with a range of 180 miles. REGENT is also working on next-gen batteries that will enable the seaglider to achieve over 400 nautical miles of range in the near future.
In addition to passenger transportation, REGENT is collaborating with the US Marine Corps to explore the use of seagliders for defense purposes. The company recently broke ground on a 255,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Rhode Island, where the seagliders will be produced. This facility is expected to come online next year.
The successful completion of on-water tests marks a significant milestone for REGENT as it paves the way for a faster, more affordable mode of transportation. With the support of investors and a growing interest in electric aviation, the era of seagliders has truly begun.
Would you be willing to take a trip in REGENT’s electric seaglider? The future of transportation may be closer than you think. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a multitude of challenges for individuals all around the world. From the loss of loved ones to financial struggles, the impact of the virus has been far-reaching and devastating. One of the main challenges that many people have faced during this time is the issue of mental health.
The pandemic has created a perfect storm for mental health issues to arise. The uncertainty of the situation, the fear of getting sick, and the isolation caused by lockdowns and social distancing measures have all contributed to an increase in anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders.
One of the most significant impacts of the pandemic on mental health has been the increase in feelings of loneliness and isolation. With many people forced to stay at home and limit their interactions with others, feelings of loneliness have become more widespread. This can have a significant impact on mental health, as social connections are crucial for well-being.
In addition to feelings of loneliness, the stress and anxiety caused by the pandemic have also taken a toll on mental health. Many people have been worried about their health and the health of their loved ones, as well as the economic impact of the virus. This constant state of stress can lead to the development of anxiety disorders and depression.
Furthermore, the pandemic has disrupted many people’s routines and daily lives, leading to feelings of disorientation and a lack of control. This loss of structure can exacerbate mental health issues and make it more difficult for individuals to cope with the challenges they are facing.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, there are ways to protect and support mental health during this difficult time. Staying connected with loved ones, even if it is through virtual means, can help alleviate feelings of loneliness. Engaging in activities that bring joy and relaxation, such as exercise, meditation, or hobbies, can also help improve mental well-being.
It is important for individuals to prioritize self-care and seek help if they are struggling with their mental health. Many therapists and mental health professionals have transitioned to offering virtual appointments, making it easier for people to access the support they need.
Overall, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on mental health. It is crucial for individuals to take care of themselves and seek help when needed in order to navigate these challenging times. By prioritizing mental health, we can work towards building resilience and coping with the challenges that lie ahead.
