Acura is selling more EVs in the US as massive discounts pile up

Acura is quietly making a name for itself in the luxury EV market, offering over $20,000 in discounts on their electric vehicles (EVs) in the US. Honda’s Acura brand has been steadily increasing sales, with the recent launch of the ZDX model in May 2024.

In the month of May alone, Acura sold an impressive 1,873 ZDX models, bringing their total EV sales in the US to over 9,000 units through May. This is a significant feat considering the ZDX was just introduced to the US market last year. In comparison, Honda’s electric SUV, the Prologue, sold 2,110 units in May, contributing to over 13,500 units sold through May.

Acura’s sales numbers are on par with other luxury brands like Cadillac, who sold 4,300 Lyriq models in the first quarter. Acura’s success can be attributed to their aggressive sales strategy, with the ZDX surpassing sales projections set earlier in the year.

Acura is currently offering generous lease deals on the 2024 ZDX, with discounts totaling nearly $30,000 in some states. This makes the ZDX more affordable than a Honda CR-V Hybrid, further enticing customers to make the switch to electric. Honda has also introduced new incentives on the 2025 Prologue, offering up to $16,500 in savings for interested buyers.

However, these savings may soon be impacted by new legislation, such as the proposed “Big, Beautiful Bill,” which could eliminate incentives like the $7,500 EV tax credit. As a result, now may be the best time to take advantage of these discounts before they disappear.
