The MG 4 EV is set to receive an update for the UK market in the near future, but it won’t be getting the extensive redesign that was recently unveiled in China. Instead, the focus will be on refreshing the interior to align with the new S5 EV crossover.
According to MG Motor UK product boss David Allison, the updated 4 EV will feature higher-quality materials, larger and clearer screens, and a new array of console-mounted buttons for improved functionality. The car will also be equipped with the new level-two ADAS system that is found in the S5 EV.
While the second-generation MG 4 EV has already been launched in China, it remains to be seen when these changes will make their way to the UK market. A spokesperson for MG Motor UK stated that the company is still considering whether to introduce the new model and on what timeline.
The new 4 EV is larger than its predecessor, measuring 4.4m in length with a wheelbase of 2.75m. The design takes inspiration from the Cyberster convertible, MG 3 hatchback, and S5 EV, featuring slim headlights and distinctive arrow-shaped brake lights.
Under the hood, the new 4 EV is powered by a single electric motor producing 161bhp and weighing in at 1485kg. It is equipped with a lithium-iron-phosphate battery, although the exact capacity has not been disclosed. The range is expected to be comparable to the current entry-level 4 EV, which offers 218 miles on a single charge.
Overall, the upcoming update for the MG 4 EV promises to enhance the driving experience with improved technology and a refreshed interior. Stay tuned for more updates on when these changes will be available in the UK market.
