Alpine A310 due in 2028 as Porsche 911 rival

Alpine is set to revolutionize the sports car market with its upcoming A310 model, featuring innovative power management software in the form of active torque vectoring. This technology aims to provide the “driving dynamic of a lightweight car” despite the added weight of several hundred kilograms. Philippe Krief, CEO of Alpine, has emphasized the importance of maintaining the brand’s dynamic principles, such as agility, in the new A310.

Krief, a renowned engineer who has worked on iconic sports cars like the Ferrari 458 and Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, is committed to ensuring that the A310 stays true to Alpine’s heritage while pushing the boundaries of performance. The A310 will feature a tri-motor set-up, with one motor at the front and two at the rear, similar to Alpine’s upcoming A390 SUV. This configuration promises impressive performance, surpassing the 345bhp A110 R Ultime track-focused model.

Design-wise, the A310 will take inspiration from the A390 SUV, featuring a distinctive front end with a wraparound light bar and a Le Mans-inspired central fin at the rear. The A390’s unique feature of illuminated wheels when torque vectoring is activated may also be incorporated into the A310, adding a touch of excitement to the electric driving experience.

While the A310 will prioritize performance, it will not resort to artificial engine noises or simulated gear changes to enhance the driving experience. Krief is adamant that Alpine’s electric vehicles should not try to mimic combustion engine sounds, as authenticity is key to the brand’s ethos.

Overall, the A310 promises to be a game-changer in the sports car market, combining cutting-edge technology with Alpine’s storied heritage. With a focus on dynamic driving characteristics and performance, the A310 is poised to become an icon of future sports cars and a true representation of the Alpine brand. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new model from Alpine.
