Tesla Faces Criticism from Analyst after Disappointing Second-Quarter Results

Tesla has always had a strong supporter in Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas, who has often provided positive commentary on the electric car company. However, after the recent second-quarter results and call with CEO Elon Musk, Jonas was less than impressed.

In a note to investors, Jonas expressed his concerns about Tesla’s lack of specific targets on revenues or margins in their outlook. He mentioned that Musk appeared to be shifting focus away from the auto industry and towards AI, autonomy, and robotaxis, which he viewed as a withdrawal of capital from the core business.

Jonas highlighted the fact that Musk’s emphasis on technology and autonomous driving capabilities seemed to overshadow any concrete plans for the company’s financial performance. This shift in strategy raised questions about Tesla’s future direction and the potential impact on its overall business model.
