New Audi A3 Interior Upgrade: A Closer Look
Stepping into the latest generation of the Audi A3 is a whole new experience compared to its predecessor. The cabin has undergone a significant transformation, with a wider variety of materials and a more driver-focused design that is sure to impress even the most discerning of drivers.
One of the key criticisms of the 2020 launch model was the interior finish and design, prompting Audi to prioritize a mid-life update to enhance the quality and charisma of the cabin. The updated A3 now features illuminated door panels with 30 color options, redesigned air vents with optional chrome surrounds, a smaller gear shifter, and a range of new upmarket materials and color schemes.
One of the standout features of the new A3 is its infotainment system, which runs on the latest generation of Audi’s software. This provides access to in-built apps, 5G data connectivity, and various paid-for functions on demand. The standard kit list has also been extended to include a wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, and comfort air conditioning.
The cabin strikes a perfect balance between digital and physical elements. The touchscreen is seamlessly integrated and offers crisp graphics and swift processing speeds, while still retaining physical toggles, switches, and buttons for easy access to essential functions. The inclusion of ADAS integration makes it easy to activate electronic driver aids with just the press of a button, ensuring minimal distraction while driving.
Unlike some other models in the Audi range, the A3 sticks to physical controls for climate settings, with easy-to-reach buttons located in the lower section of the dashboard. This allows for quick adjustments without taking your eyes off the road, making for a safer and more convenient driving experience.
Improvements in interior space also enhance the overall comfort of the A3. With 6mm more elbow room in the front and 3mm more in the rear, thanks to the increased width of the car, passengers will have a more spacious and enjoyable ride. Additionally, a 7mm increase in front headroom and 2mm more shoulder room further contribute to the overall comfort of the cabin.
Despite the interior upgrades, the boot capacity of the A3 Sportback remains the same at 380 liters, expanding to 1200 liters when the rear seats are folded forward.
