Sauber Motorsport Opens New Base at Bicester Motion to Support Audi’s F1 Team
Sauber Motorsport, the organization tasked with managing Audi’s entry into Formula 1 for the 2026 season, has recently inaugurated a state-of-the-art technology center at Bicester Motion. This new facility, located near Oxford, will complement the operations of the Audi team’s headquarters in Hinwil, Switzerland, as they gear up for their debut season in 2026.
The decision to establish the base at Bicester Motion was influenced by the rich talent pool available in the surrounding area, often referred to as ‘motorsport valley’ due to the presence of renowned teams like Mercedes-AMG, Red Bull, and Alpine. While considering alternative locations in Silverstone and Milton Keynes, the allure of being part of this thriving motorsport hub ultimately swayed Sauber Motorsport’s decision.
“This facility will enable us to leverage the expertise found in Motorsport Valley and enhance our technical capabilities, all while immersing ourselves in the vibrant motorsport community at Bicester Motion,” stated Mattia Binotto, the head of the Audi F1 project.
Aside from the abundance of skilled professionals in the motorsport and automotive industries at Bicester, the site also holds cultural significance. It serves as the venue for popular events like the Scramble car meet and gatherings such as Radwood, further solidifying its appeal as the ideal location for Audi-Sauber’s UK base.
“We are delighted that Bicester Motion has been chosen as the UK hub for Audi-Sauber, bridging the gap between their operations in Switzerland and Germany to support their ambitious goals,” said Daniel Geoghegan, the CEO of Bicester Motion.
