Audi has recently unveiled a new organisational unit called “Transformation, Consulting, and Organization” as part of its ongoing efforts to restructure and improve efficiency and competitiveness. This move is part of the company’s broader strategy to adapt to changing economic conditions and competitive pressures in the global market.
The new unit, set to be operational from 1 March 2025, will be led by Yvonne Bettkober, who brings over 20 years of management experience to the role. Bettkober previously oversaw global organisational development and transformation at Volkswagen and its software subsidiary CARIAD. She has also worked at companies like Microsoft and Amazon Web Services.
In a statement, Bettkober expressed her excitement about contributing her experience to unleash the potential and power of the Audi team in the face of current challenges. Her appointment is part of Audi’s efforts to streamline operations, reduce costs, and drive innovation to strengthen its position in the market.
Audi CEO Gernot Döllner highlighted the importance of this realignment, stating that it will help prepare the company for the future. The company has already implemented measures to improve profitability and innovation in the past 18 months, such as streamlining committees and adopting a matrix organisation for better collaboration.
Additionally, Audi’s electric vehicle (EV) production hub in Brussels is reportedly set to cease operations on 28 February 2025, resulting in the loss of 3,000 jobs. The factory, which transitioned to EV production in 2018, has been producing the Q8 e-tron, a high-end electric SUV. However, a decrease in global demand for such vehicles and longstanding structural issues, including high logistics and production costs, have led to the decision to shut down the plant.
Overall, Audi’s strategic realignment and organisational changes aim to accelerate decision-making, enhance innovation, and strengthen the company’s competitive position in the global market. The company remains committed to driving forward its transformation agenda and positioning itself for long-term success.
