Audi Unveils Plans for New Q9 SUV
Audi is gearing up to launch its largest and most luxurious SUV yet, the highly anticipated Q9. Set to compete with the likes of the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS, and Range Rover, the Q9 is designed to cater to markets in the US, China, and the UAE, with a potential UK release on the horizon.
Building upon the success of the Audi Q7, the Q9 will offer a three-row seven-seater configuration, with the possibility of a six-seat layout reminiscent of the Bentley Bentayga. Underpinning the Q9 is an extended version of the Volkswagen Group’s new Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), accommodating a range of powertrains from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder to a V8 engine.
In line with global emissions standards, the sporting SQ9 variant is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain utilizing the V8 engine. Despite facing delays since its initial concept in 2018, the Q9 is nearing completion, featuring a redesigned exterior with sleek LED daytime running lights, a distinctive front grille, and a striking light bar at the rear.
The official unveiling of the Audi Q9 is slated for next year, with a potential UK launch in early 2027. Priced around £100,000, the Q9 represents Audi’s commitment to innovation and luxury in the SUV segment.
As Audi reevaluates its transition to electric vehicles, CEO Gernot Döllner recently announced a potential shift in phasing out ICE cars by 2032. This strategic reassessment reflects Audi’s dedication to sustainability and environmental consciousness in the automotive industry.
