Audi has introduced more visual tweaks to the already impressive RS6 Avant in the form of a new splitter and a gloss black treatment for the front grilles. These changes make the car appear even wider than it is, giving it a more aggressive and sporty look. Additionally, a carbonfibre bonnet and carbonfibre front wings have been added, featuring cavernous air outlets behind the front wheels. The rear spoiler has also been updated with a central spar, adding to the overall aerodynamic profile of the car. To achieve these enhancements, the car is sent to Bollinger Hofe for finishing by just seven specially trained employees.
Under the hood, the 4.0-litre TFSI V8 engine remains unchanged, producing an impressive 621bhp and 627lb ft of torque. This engine is a testament to old-school power, lacking any form of hybridization. Power is delivered through an eight-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox and Audi’s Quattro permanent four-wheel drive system, featuring a locking center differential and Quattro Sport rear limited-slip differential.
The suspension of the RS6 Avant has undergone significant changes, with the introduction of RS Sports Suspension Pro. Instead of air chambers and adaptive dampers, the GT now comes equipped with height-adjustable coilovers that have adjustable dampers for compression and rebound rates. Adjusting these settings can be a complex process, requiring the car to be lifted and cladding to be removed. Most owners are likely to leave the GT in its factory settings to avoid this hassle.
The car’s anti-roll bars are now 30% stiffer at the front and 80% stiffer at the rear compared to the regular RS6. The basic spring rate has also been increased, although the exact amount is not specified by Audi. In terms of weight, the RS6 Avant GT we tested came in at 2144kg fully fueled, slightly more than the claimed 2075kg but still less than the regular RS6 tested in 2020, which weighed 2217kg.
Overall, the Audi RS6 Avant GT is a powerhouse on wheels, with impressive performance and handling capabilities. The combination of visual enhancements and mechanical upgrades make it a standout in the luxury sports car market. If you’re in the market for a high-performance estate car that delivers on both style and substance, the RS6 Avant GT is definitely worth considering.
