Aurora, a company specializing in self-driving trucks, has partnered with McLeod Software to develop a transportation management system (TMS) specifically tailored for autonomous trucks.
The collaboration between Aurora and McLeod Software aims to integrate Aurora’s self-driving trucking platform into McLeod’s transportation management system. This integration is designed to enhance the user experience for their shared customers and drive the adoption of autonomous trucking technology within the industry.
Self-driving autonomous trucks offer carriers the potential to increase revenue and asset utilization by safely transporting freight continuously. However, it is essential to seamlessly integrate self-driving trucking technology into existing operations and management processes to avoid adding complexity or creating operational friction.
Through an API integration with Aurora’s technology, clients of McLeod Software will gain real-time insights into the operations of autonomous trucks. This collaboration will enable shared customers to manage the tendering and acceptance of autonomous shipments, dispatch, and load tracking through their McLeod TMS.
Tom McLeod, the CEO and founder of McLeod Software, emphasized the significance of integrating Aurora’s autonomous capabilities into their TMS platform. He highlighted that this partnership provides customers with a pathway to adopt Autonomous Tractors within their operations, showcasing their commitment to providing cutting-edge technology for their customers.
Aurora will also benefit from access to McLeod’s customer base, which is expected to accelerate the industry-wide adoption of self-driving trucks. Currently in beta testing, McLeod plans to make this feature available to its customers by 2026.
Furthermore, Aurora will participate in McLeod’s User Conference from 21-23 September 2025 to provide updates on this collaboration. Ossa Fisher, the president of Aurora, expressed that this partnership with McLeod marks a significant step in delivering a premium, customer-centric product and service. By integrating autonomous trucking technology into existing TMS platforms, they aim to make it easier for customers to tap into the safety and efficiency benefits of autonomous trucks.
In January 2025, Aurora announced a long-term strategic collaboration with Continental and Nvidia, focusing on the large-scale deployment of driverless trucks powered by NVIDIA’s next-generation DRIVE Thor system-on-a-chip (SoC).
The partnership between Aurora and McLeod Software signifies a significant advancement in the autonomous trucking industry, paving the way for enhanced efficiency and safety in freight transportation. By seamlessly integrating self-driving technology into existing management systems, the collaboration aims to revolutionize the way autonomous trucks are adopted and utilized in the transportation industry.
