Jiyue, a collaboration between Baidu and Geely Holding Group, has recently introduced the Robo X, an electric supercar that showcases the company’s prowess in industrial design. The unveiling took place at the 2024 Guangzhou auto show, where Jiyue described the Robo X as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) smart-driving supercar that seamlessly merges AI technology and autonomous driving features into a high-performance vehicle.

The Robo X is now available for pre-order, with interested customers able to reserve a model by paying RMB 49,999 ($6,910). Mass production is expected to begin in 2027. The supercar is equipped with a high-performance drive system that enables it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than 1.9 seconds, making it a true performance beast.

Constructed using a unibody carbon fiber frame and 5052 high-strength aluminum alloy, the Robo X boasts a lightweight yet durable body structure that weighs just 1,850 kg. This two-seater supercar measures 4,650 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,195 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm. Jiyue has emphasized the futuristic design of the Robo X, stating that it represents the future of electric supercar design and will redefine the AI-powered racing segment.

Inspired by fighter jets, the Robo X incorporates design elements from fighter jet cockpits, including eagle-wing doors and a large split tail, which not only enhance its visual appeal but also improve aerodynamics. The supercar also features Baidu Apollo’s self-driving capabilities, making it the first to utilize pure-vision, high-level smart driving technology for track-level autonomous driving. This innovative approach pushes the boundaries of traditional supercar design imagination.

Furthermore, the smart cockpit of the Robo X includes Jiyue’s AI voice large model, allowing owners to interact with Simo, a virtual voice assistant, to access information such as motor torque, chassis dynamics, and thermal management. Alongside the Robo X, Jiyue also introduced the Passion Edition of the Jiyue 07 electric sedan, starting at RMB 279,900 with a limited supply of 88 units. The Jiyue 07 Passion features a 100-kWh battery pack from CALT, offering a CLTC range of 770 km and a dual-motor four-wheel drive system with a total power of 400 kW and a peak torque of 686Nm.

In addition to the Robo X and Jiyue 07, the company also unveiled an updated version of the Jiyue 01 SUV, with enhancements to the electric drive system and an improved CLTC range of 780 kilometers. The Jiyue 01 was initially launched in October 2023 and is currently priced at a starting price of RMB 219,900. Jiyue’s commitment to innovative design and cutting-edge technology is evident in its latest offerings, setting a new standard for Chinese automobiles in the electric vehicle market.
