Bentley to launch its first EV – a sleek urban SUV – in 2026

Bentley, a brand known for its luxurious and powerful vehicles, is making the transition to electric vehicles (EVs). The British ultra-luxury brand, owned by Volkswagen AG, has announced that it will be launching its first all-electric vehicle in 2026. This move comes as part of Bentley’s goal to exclusively offer battery electric vehicles (BEVs) by 2035.

The company had initially planned to introduce its first BEV earlier, but delays in software development and ensuring that the vehicle meets Bentley’s high standards have pushed back the timeline. The new electric vehicle is expected to be a luxury urban SUV, with a design similar to the Bentayga SUV but more compact in size. It will be built on the same platform as the upcoming Porsche Cayenne EV.

While Bentley has been offering plug-in hybrid versions of its vehicles, such as the Bentayga Hybrid, Continental GT, and Flying Spur, the company is now shifting its focus towards all-electric models. CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser acknowledged that there may not be a high demand for BEVs among current Bentley customers, but he believes that there is a new generation of consumers who are interested in sleek and expensive EVs.

In addition to launching its first all-electric vehicle, Bentley plans to release a new EV or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle every year until 2035. The company aims to prioritize range and charging speed in its electric models while maintaining the craftsmanship and luxury that are synonymous with the Bentley brand.

Despite the shift towards electric vehicles, Bentley will continue to offer plug-in hybrid models with 8- or 6-cylinder engines as long as there is demand from markets and customers. The company has also not ruled out the possibility of releasing new internal combustion engine vehicles in the future.

Overall, Bentley’s move towards electrification reflects the growing trend in the automotive industry towards sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation. The luxury brand is setting its sights on a future where electric vehicles are not only practical and efficient but also luxurious and high-performance. Title: The Rise of Sustainable Fashion: How the Fashion Industry is Embracing Eco-Friendly Practices

In recent years, there has been a significant shift in the fashion industry towards more sustainable and eco-friendly practices. Consumers are becoming more conscious of the environmental impact of fast fashion, and as a result, many fashion brands are now taking steps to reduce their carbon footprint and promote ethical and sustainable practices.

One of the key drivers of this shift towards sustainable fashion is the growing awareness of the environmental impact of the fashion industry. The fashion industry is one of the largest contributors to global carbon emissions, with the production and transportation of clothing contributing to pollution and climate change. As consumers become more aware of these issues, they are demanding more sustainable and eco-friendly options from fashion brands.

In response to this demand, many fashion brands are now embracing eco-friendly practices in their production processes. This includes using organic and sustainable materials, such as organic cotton, hemp, and bamboo, which require less water and pesticides to grow compared to traditional fabrics. Brands are also using recycled materials, such as recycled polyester and nylon, to reduce waste and minimize their environmental impact.

In addition to using sustainable materials, many fashion brands are also adopting eco-friendly production processes. This includes reducing water and energy consumption in their factories, as well as implementing recycling and waste reduction programs. Some brands are also investing in renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, to reduce their carbon footprint.

Furthermore, many fashion brands are also focusing on ethical labor practices and fair wages for garment workers. This includes ensuring safe working conditions, fair wages, and empowering workers in developing countries. By promoting ethical labor practices, fashion brands are not only reducing their environmental impact but also promoting social responsibility and ethical practices in the industry.

Consumers are also playing a key role in driving the shift towards sustainable fashion. Many consumers are now choosing to support brands that prioritize sustainability and ethical practices, and are willing to pay a premium for eco-friendly and ethically produced clothing. This shift in consumer behavior is pushing fashion brands to prioritize sustainability and adopt eco-friendly practices in order to attract and retain customers.

Overall, the rise of sustainable fashion is a positive trend that is reshaping the fashion industry for the better. By embracing eco-friendly practices, fashion brands are not only reducing their environmental impact but also promoting ethical labor practices and social responsibility. As consumers continue to demand more sustainable options, it is likely that the fashion industry will continue to evolve towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly future.
