BMW Says Goodbye to the 8 Series With Stunning Heritage Colors

BMW is saying goodbye to the 8 Series with a special Edition M Heritage model that pays homage to the original car from the 1990s. With only 500 units available, this limited edition model is based on the M850i xDrive Gran Coupe and comes in a range of retro-inspired colors. Buyers can choose from Bright Red, Mauritius Blue, Cosmos Black, Oxford Green, or Daytona Violet, all of which were available on the original E31-generation 8 Series.

The Edition M Heritage model comes with several unique features to set it apart from the standard M850i. It includes a carbon roof with M tri-color stripes, special 20-inch alloy wheels, and the M Sport Professional package as standard. This package adds upgraded brakes, black calipers, and additional black exterior trim for a sportier look.

Inside, the Edition M Heritage is adorned with Alcantara and black Merino leather seats with diamond stitching. Alcantara also covers the headliner, dashboard, and parts of the door panels, while the dash features matte carbon fiber accents. Tri-color M stitching can be found throughout the interior, along with special “M850i Edition M Heritage” and “1/500” branding on the cupholder cover and doorsill plates.

Under the hood, the Edition M Heritage retains the same 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine as the standard M850i, producing 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing for a 0-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph.

BMW has made the Edition M Heritage a fully equipped model, with no options available for buyers to add. Features like the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System and the Driving Assistance Professional Package are included as standard. The only choice customers need to make is the paint color.

With all these special features, the Edition M Heritage comes with a price tag of $131,575, including a $1,175 destination charge. This makes it over $23,000 more expensive than a standard M850i Gran Coupe. Production is set to begin towards the end of 2025, with deliveries expected to start early next year.

Overall, the Edition M Heritage is a fitting tribute to the original 8 Series, combining retro-inspired design elements with modern performance and luxury features. This limited edition model is sure to be a collector’s item for BMW enthusiasts and fans of the iconic 8 Series.
