BMW to Launch 40 New Models in Next Three Years

BMW is gearing up for a major product offensive, with plans to introduce 40 new models within the next three years. This announcement was made by CEO Oliver Zipse during the brand’s annual results conference, where he revealed that the upcoming launches will include both new models and updates to existing cars.

Among these new models, at least two will be part of BMW’s first Neue Klasse lineup. The first of these models will be the highly anticipated next-generation iX3, which is the production version of the Neue Klasse Vision X. Zipse mentioned that the iX3 will be unveiled at the Munich motor show in September, followed shortly by the electric 3 Series.

Despite facing challenges throughout the year, BMW Group saw a positive trend in EV sales. The group reported selling 426,594 electric cars across its BMW, Mini, and Rolls-Royce brands, representing a 13.5% increase from the previous year. EVs accounted for a significant portion, making up one-fifth of the group’s total sales.

While the group experienced a decline in revenue and earnings before tax, primarily due to a massive brake-related recall and a sales downturn in China, EV sales in China exceeded 100,000 deliveries. The US market also saw record-high EV sales, with 50,000 units sold.

In addition to EVs, the US market proved to be a strong buyer of M-badged BMW cars, accounting for one in ten BMW sales in the country. Overall, the group sold 2.45 million cars in 2024, with BMWs making up the majority of sales, followed by Minis and Rolls-Royces.

Looking ahead, the group anticipates a slight increase in deliveries in 2025, as it navigates through tariff increases worldwide. Despite the challenges faced in the previous year, BMW remains committed to its growth strategy and innovation in the electric vehicle market.
