BorgWarner, a leading automotive supplier, has recently announced two new contracts that further solidify its presence in the dual-clutch transmission (DCT) market in China. The company has successfully secured a seven-year extension for its DCT clutch assembly with a prominent German automotive manufacturer operating in China. This renewal comes after more than a decade of successful collaboration between the two companies.

The DCT clutch assembly components, manufactured at BorgWarner’s facility in Tianjin, are specifically designed for vehicles equipped with internal combustion engines and mild hybrid systems. These components offer enhanced performance by reducing rotational inertia and minimizing friction losses, ultimately leading to improved transmission efficiency and smoother operation on the road.

Isabelle McKenzie, Vice President and President of Drivetrain and Morse Systems at BorgWarner, expressed the company’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions in the Chinese market. She stated, “Our success in securing new projects in the Chinese market underscores BorgWarner’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions in the region. We are dedicated to helping our customers grow their business in China and succeed in international markets.”

In addition to the contract extension, BorgWarner has also entered into a new supply agreement with a Chinese transmission manufacturer. Under this agreement, BorgWarner will supply DCT clutch modules for SUVs and sedans produced by a Chinese automaker for both domestic and export markets. The production of these modules will take place at BorgWarner’s Taicang facility, with mass production scheduled to commence by the end of 2025.

The DCT clutch modules supplied by BorgWarner are designed to meet various driving conditions and are recognized for their compact design, thermal durability, and cost efficiency. This new agreement further strengthens BorgWarner’s position in the Chinese automotive market and highlights the company’s commitment to providing cutting-edge technologies for its customers.

Earlier this year, in February, BorgWarner also announced extended supply contracts with a major North American automaker for wastegate turbochargers. Volker Weng, Vice President and President of Turbos and Thermal Technologies at BorgWarner, emphasized the long-standing relationship between BorgWarner and the North American OEM, spanning over a decade. He expressed enthusiasm for the continued collaboration between the two companies in the coming years.

In conclusion, BorgWarner’s recent contracts in the Chinese market showcase the company’s dedication to innovation and excellence in the automotive industry. With a strong focus on delivering high-quality components and solutions, BorgWarner continues to solidify its position as a key player in the global automotive supply chain.
