BOS Semiconductors and Tenstorrent have collaborated to introduce the industry’s first automotive AI accelerator chiplet SoC, Eagle-N. This innovative chip incorporates Tenstorrent’s Tensix NPU core, specifically designed for automotive applications, offering powerful AI performance and energy-efficient operation for Automotive Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and In-vehicle infotainment (IVI) computing systems.

Eagle-N boasts up to 250TOPS NPU performance, along with PCIe gen5 and UCIe high-speed interfaces, enabling the integration of add-on NPUs and AI subsystems for developing autonomous driving functions and immersive in-cabin experiences. This chiplet technology allows seamless connectivity with various ADAS and IVI processors in the market, empowering OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers to enhance their existing computing systems’ AI performance while benefiting from Eagle-N’s competitive TOPS/$ and TOPS/watt ratios.

In addition to Eagle-N, BOS is also working on developing Eagle-A, a one-chip ADAS SoC that can be paired with Eagle-N. Together, Eagle-N and Eagle-A form a versatile ADAS chiplet SoC family, catering to different segments of ADAS and autonomous driving functionalities.

Jaehong Park, CEO and founder of BOS Semiconductors, expressed his excitement about introducing their first automotive SoC product to the market, emphasizing the cost-effectiveness, high performance, and low power consumption of Eagle-N. He highlighted the collaboration with Tenstorrent in providing cutting-edge solutions for the automotive industry.

Tenstorrent’s Tensix NPU cores are at the heart of Eagle-N, featuring an array math unit for tensor operations, a SIMD unit for vector operations, a Network-on-Chip (NoC) for efficient data transfer, “baby RISC-V” processors for directing the NoC, and up to 1.5MB of SRAM. This chiplet eco-system enhances the overall performance and efficiency of the AI accelerator chip, making it a game-changer in the automotive industry.
