BYD, a leading Chinese automaker, made significant announcements during its investor communication meeting in Hong Kong on March 25, 2025. The company revealed its ambitious sales target of 5.5 million vehicles for the year 2025, with over 800,000 units expected to come from overseas markets. Chairman Wang Chuanfu emphasized BYD’s commitment to deploying intelligent solutions globally by 2026-2027, focusing on safety and electrification as key competitive advantages.

In the first half of 2025, BYD witnessed a surge in overseas passenger vehicle sales, showcasing a more diversified export footprint. Several countries recorded record-high volumes, with Israel making its debut in the top 10, highlighting BYD’s rapid global expansion. Through a strategic technology roadmap, policy alignment, and targeted product execution, BYD is solidifying its presence in global markets.

Here is a breakdown of the top 10 destination countries for BYD’s passenger vehicle exports in the first half of 2025:

1. Brazil: 77,904 units (BEVs – 28,013, PHEVs – 49,891)
2. Belgium: 67,727 units (BEVs – 38,809, PHEVs – 28,918)
3. Mexico: 66,953 units (BEVs – 27,915, PHEVs – 39,038)
4. UK: 33,948 units (BEVs – 20,271, PHEVs – 13,677)
5. Turkey: 26,643 units (BEVs – 10,695, PHEVs – 15,948)
6. Indonesia: 20,379 units (BEVs only)
7. Australia: 20,205 units (BEVs – 13,997, PHEVs – 6,208)
8. Spain: 18,230 units (BEVs – 10,477, PHEVs – 7,753)
9. Philippines: 13,153 units (BEVs – 3,554, PHEVs – 9,599)
10. Israel: 10,597 units (BEVs – 4,500, PHEVs – 6,097)

In Brazil, BYD exported a significant number of PHEVs, surpassing BEVs, as they were well-suited to the country’s energy landscape. The company expedited shipments to Brazil and Mexico ahead of new import duties on NEVs, ensuring timely deliveries. Belgium, as a key European automotive hub, facilitated BYD’s expansion across the continent. Indonesia and the Philippines saw strong demand for BEVs due to supportive government policies and local infrastructure.

BYD’s success in Israel and Spain, where NEV acceptance is growing, underscored its ability to cater to diverse market needs with a mix of BEVs and PHEVs. Leveraging its deep market insights and dual-track strategy, BYD is paving the way for global market penetration.

By staying abreast of changing market dynamics and consumer preferences, BYD continues to strengthen its position as a global leader in intelligent and electrified solutions for the automotive industry.
