BYD has officially revealed the European specifications for its latest crossover, the Atto 2. This new model is set to compete with popular vehicles such as the Vauxhall Frontera and the Renault 4.
The Atto 2 will initially come equipped with a single motor delivering 174bhp to the front wheels. Power is derived from a 45.1kWh battery pack, providing a respectable range of 194 miles on a single charge. One notable feature is the cell-to-body construction of the battery, which enhances the overall chassis rigidity.
In comparison, the base model of the Frontera offers a 112bhp motor and a slightly smaller 44kWh battery, resulting in a range of 186 miles between charges. The Atto 2 is positioned as a smaller sibling to the existing Atto 3, with dimensions measuring 4.31m in length, 1.83m in width, and 1.68m in height. This places it as a versatile option, serving as a taller alternative to the BYD Dolphin hatchback.
Inside, the Atto 2 provides seating for up to five passengers and a generous 400-litre boot capacity. The vehicle is equipped with BYD’s innovative 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, which can be rotated to display content in both portrait and landscape orientations.
While pricing details have not been finalized, it is anticipated that the Atto 2 will be priced competitively in the mid-£20,000s range, aligning closely with the Vauxhall Frontera. This strategic move by BYD demonstrates their commitment to establishing a strong presence in the European market.
Overall, the Atto 2 offers a compelling blend of performance, range, and practicality, making it a promising addition to BYD’s lineup of electric vehicles. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting crossover as it prepares to make its mark on European roads.
