The Denza N9, a premium crossover from BYD designed for global markets, has unveiled its luxurious interior in China. With three rows of seats, a 50-inch Head-Up Display (HUD), a 17.1-inch ceiling-mounted screen, and an 11.5-liter fridge, the Denza N9 is set to make a statement in the luxury SUV segment. Expected to launch in China next year, the Denza N9 will come with a powerful 710 kW (951 hp) electric motor and a price tag starting above 500,000 yuan (approximately 68,950 USD).
Denza, a high-end NEV brand established in 2011 by BYD and Mercedes-Benz, became fully owned by BYD in September 2024. The brand’s lineup includes five vehicles, with the Denza N9 SUV poised to become the flagship model. The N9 is also expected to play a crucial role in Denza’s international expansion, having been spotted in the UK previously.
The interior of the Denza N9 follows the brand’s latest design language seen in the Z9 and Z9 GT models. The center console boasts a three-monitor layout, including a large 17.3-inch touchscreen. The driver is greeted with a 13.2-inch LCD instrument cluster behind the D-shaped steering wheel, while the front passenger gets their own 13.2-inch screen.
In terms of functionality, the Denza N9’s center tunnel features two wireless charging pads, a set of physical buttons, and a concealed compartment. The front seats offer active side support, with the front passenger seat even featuring a zero-gravity mode. Moving to the second row, there are two independent captain chairs that can fold flat to create a bed. Passengers in the second row enjoy a 17.1-inch ceiling-mounted screen, folding illuminated mirrors, and folding tables capable of holding up to 10 kg. Additionally, a unique feature of the N9 is the 11.5-liter storage box with heating and cooling functions, with a temperature range from -6 to +50 degrees Celsius.
The third row of the Denza N9 accommodates two seats, resulting in a 2+2+2 seating layout. While details on the third-row seats are scarce, they come equipped with two cup holders and four USB ports.
Measuring 5258/2030/1830 mm with a wheelbase of 3125 mm, the Denza N9 is a sizable crossover, slightly longer than the 2024 Range Rover with a long wheelbase. The N9 rides on either R21 or R22 wheels.
The PHEV version of the Denza N9 utilizes three electric motors producing 680 kW (911 hp) in combination with a 2-liter turbocharged engine generating 152 kW (204 hp). A 47-kWh LFP battery pack provides an electric range of 165 km (CLTC), with a top speed of 230 km/h. The BEV variant of the N9 features three e-motors delivering 710 kW (951 hp), although details on the battery pack size are currently unavailable.
Expected to debut in the Chinese market in early 2025 with a starting price above 500,000 yuan (approximately 68,950 USD), the Denza N9 will also make its way to international markets. BYD plans to introduce Denza in Europe next year, with the Denza Z9 GT serving as the flagship model for the launch.
