BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) recently introduced the Yuan Up in Hong Kong, rebranded as Atto 2, expanding the availability of the compact pure electric SUV in the region. Collaborating with local dealer partner Harmony Auto, the model is now available in Hong Kong with a starting price of 155,000 Hong Kong dollars ($19,750) or 169,800 Hong Kong dollars after taxes.

Equipped with a 51.13-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, the Atto 2 boasts an NEDC range of 410 kilometers, making it an appealing choice for young individuals and small families. Liu Xue Liang, general manager of BYD Asia Pacific sales division, emphasized that the Atto 2 has already garnered over 200 pre-launch orders in Hong Kong, reflecting the strong demand for affordable electric vehicles in the region.

Originally launched in March 2024, the BYD Yuan Up has seen success in various international markets, including Europe, Brazil, Peru, and Malaysia. In the Chinese mainland, the vehicle offers eight variants with prices ranging from 96,800 yuan ($13,500) to 119,800 yuan. Since the start of 2022, BYD has achieved significant sales in Hong Kong, with over 17,000 vehicles sold and a network of 12 stores and five after-sales service centers operating in the region.

In July, BYD reported sales of 344,296 new energy vehicles (NEVs), with a slight year-on-year increase but a month-on-month decline. Overseas sales reached 80,737 vehicles in the same month, marking a substantial year-on-year growth. The company’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle offerings and global presence is evident through initiatives like the introduction of the Atto 2 in Hong Kong and the continuous growth in international markets.

As BYD continues to innovate and capture a larger market share in the electric vehicle industry, the introduction of the Atto 2 in Hong Kong signifies another milestone in the company’s journey towards sustainable transportation solutions. With a focus on affordability, range, and performance, the Atto 2 is poised to further strengthen BYD’s position in the evolving landscape of electric mobility.
