BYD’s latest addition to its fleet, the BYD Changsha, has officially set sail, following closely on the heels of the BYD Xi’an, the company’s fifth car carrier. The BYD Changsha, the third car carrier with a capacity of 9,200 vehicles, joins the ranks of the BYD Shenzhen and BYD Xi’an in facilitating the transport of new energy vehicles (NEVs) to various destinations around the world.
The BYD Changsha, named after BYD’s production base in Changsha, Hunan province, entered the trial phase alongside the BYD Xi’an at the beginning of this month. These two new additions reflect BYD’s commitment to expanding its presence in overseas markets, as it aims to capitalize on the growing demand for NEVs globally.
In a recent update, BYD announced that approximately 7,000 NEVs are currently being loaded onto the BYD Xi’an car carrier for delivery to countries such as the UK, Italy, Spain, and Belgium. This marks a significant milestone for BYD as it continues to strengthen its foothold in key international markets.
The deployment of additional car carriers comes at a time when BYD is experiencing record-breaking sales overseas. In May alone, BYD sold 89,047 vehicles internationally, representing a year-on-year increase of 137.46 percent. This upward trend in sales is expected to continue, with Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu expressing optimism about the company’s performance in the coming months.
Wang emphasized the importance of localization efforts in overseas markets, citing the “golden period” of NEVs replacing internal combustion engine vehicles as a key opportunity for growth. By prioritizing investments in localization, BYD aims to solidify its position as a leading player in the global NEV market.
With a strong focus on product innovation and market expansion, BYD is well-positioned to replicate its success in China on a global scale. As the company continues to expand its fleet and enhance its presence in key markets, the future looks promising for BYD’s international growth trajectory.
