Denza, the premium brand of BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), recently unveiled the 2025 D9 MPV, the second update to its flagship model this year. The 2025 D9 comes with a starting price of RMB 339,800 ($46,560), the same as its predecessor, but with several upgraded features.

The new model boasts a standard high-level smart drive system and BYD’s latest fifth-generation DM (dual mode) technology on the hybrid version. It is available in eight variants, including five plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) options and three battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants.

The hybrid D9 DM-i is equipped with the advanced DM 5.0 technology and comes in five variants priced from RMB 339,800 to RMB 449,800. The BEV variants start at RMB 349,800 and go up to RMB 469,800.

In terms of specifications, the 2025 Denza D9 DM-i is powered by a 1.5 T engine with 115 kW of maximum power and 225 Nm of maximum torque. The single-motor version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds, while the dual-motor version achieves the same in 7.3 seconds.

The vehicle is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery pack with a capacity of 40 kWh, providing a CLTC battery range of up to 200 kilometers. The BEV variants, on the other hand, come with a battery pack capacity of 103 kWh and a CLTC range of 600-620 kilometers.

Denza, a joint venture between BYD and Daimler (now Mercedes-Benz), has seen significant success with the D9 model. The brand’s stake in Denza increased to 90 percent in 2022, and in September this year, BYD acquired the remaining 10 percent stake from Mercedes-Benz.

The D9 has been a best-seller for Denza, with monthly sales averaging around 10,000 units for the past two years. From January to November, the D9 delivered 92,945 units, accounting for 83.75 percent of Denza’s total deliveries in the same period.

Aside from the D9, Denza also offers the N7 SUV, the Z9GT hatchback, and the Z9 sedan. The brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability is evident in its lineup of electric vehicles, catering to the growing demand for eco-friendly transportation options.

With its latest updates and competitive pricing, the 2025 D9 is set to continue Denza’s success in the electric vehicle market. The brand’s dedication to quality and performance ensures that customers can enjoy a premium driving experience while contributing to a greener future.
