BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has made a significant move in its European expansion by entering the Croatian passenger car market. The company recently introduced four models in Croatia, namely the Seal, Song Plus EV, Song Plus DM-i, and Sealion 07 EV. This marks a significant milestone for BYD as it continues to strengthen its presence in Europe.
The announcement was made via a brief post on BYD’s Weibo account, accompanied by several images showcasing the newly launched models. Additionally, BYD Europe’s LinkedIn account confirmed the company’s entry into the Croatian market at an event held in Zagreb on April 23.
In Croatia, the models underwent rebranding, with the Sealion 07 EV becoming the Sealion 7, the Song Plus DM-i renamed as the Seal U DM-i, and the Song Plus EV rebranded as the Seal U EV, in line with BYD’s strategy in other European markets.
As part of its expansion strategy, BYD will be opening two dealership stores and a repair facility in Zagreb, as announced by the Chinese Embassy in Croatia. This move follows BYD’s recent expansions into other European markets.
In March, BYD launched several models in Serbia, including the Sealion 07 EV, Yuan UP, Yuan Plus, Seal, and Song Plus DM-i. The company also made its entry into the Swiss market on April 1, followed by the Czech and Slovak markets on April 16.
BYD reported impressive sales figures for March, with a total of 377,420 NEVs sold, marking a 24.78% increase year-on-year. Of particular note is the record-breaking 72,723 vehicles sold overseas in March, reflecting an 89.22% year-on-year increase.
The expansion into Croatia signifies BYD’s commitment to furthering its global footprint and providing innovative electric vehicle solutions to consumers worldwide. With a strong focus on sustainable mobility, BYD continues to lead the way in the electric vehicle market, setting new standards for eco-friendly transportation options.
