BYD has officially introduced the Seal 05 DM-i on September 23rd, offering 4 different variants at a price range of 112,800 to 142,800 yuan. This new model, which is a compact SUV, will be available for purchase through the Ocean and Dynasty networks. The Seal 05 DM-i comes equipped with a 1.5L plug-in hybrid powertrain and BYD’s latest DM-5.0 plug-in hybrid technology, emphasizing fuel efficiency.

Maintaining the “Ocean Aesthetics” design language, the Seal 05 DM-i features a bold and muscular exterior. The front grille is wide and adorned with intricate chrome detailing, making it a head-turner. The Sea Breeze headlights have a sleek and angular design with a dark finish, giving the vehicle a sophisticated and mysterious look. Aerodynamic air ducts on the front fascia add to the overall dynamic appearance of the car.

Moving to the side profile, the Seal 05 DM-i showcases a floating roof design with a metallic trim around the windows, adding a touch of elegance. The five-spoke wheels have a striking contrast of black and silver, enhancing the dynamic look of the vehicle. At the rear, a slender bar-type tail lamp stands out. In terms of dimensions, the Seal 05 DM-i measures 4710mm in length, 1880mm in width, 1720mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2712mm.

Inside the cabin, there is a fully digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch rotatable central touchscreen powered by BYD’s DiLink intelligent network system. The flat-bottom four-spoke steering wheel and circular gear selector with a crystal gear knob add a touch of sophistication to the interior. Common physical buttons such as the start button, EV/hybrid mode switch, electronic parking brake, volume control, and air conditioning controls are conveniently placed around the gear selector. The vehicle also includes a 50W wireless charging pad, USB Type A, 60W Type C charging ports, NFC mobile key, and BYD’s intelligent cloud services.

Under the hood, the Seal 05 DM-i is equipped with BYD’s fifth-generation DM plug-in hybrid system, combining a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine producing 74 kW, an EHS electric hybrid system, and a dedicated blade battery with a motor output of 120 kW. The 18.3 kWh battery provides a pure electric range of 115 km under CLTC conditions and a fuel consumption of 3.79 L/100 km in NEDC hybrid mode. Additionally, the vehicle supports 3.3 kW external power output.

Overall, the BYD Seal 05 DM-i combines innovative technology with a stylish design, making it a compelling option in the compact SUV segment.
