BYD’s sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao has officially filed regulatory documents for its upcoming hybrid SUV model, the Tai 7. This comes after the brand recently announced the name of the new vehicle, which is set to offer both single-motor and dual-motor options. The Tai 7 is expected to appeal to a wider family user base due to its larger size compared to the Tai 3 model.

The latest catalog of vehicle models to be approved for sale in China, released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), includes the Tai 7. The public has the opportunity to provide feedback on the model from June 21 to 27, marking the final regulatory step before the vehicle can be sold in China.

The Tai 7 is listed in the catalog with three product models – QCJ6500BG6HEV, QCJ6500BG6HEV1, and QCJ6500BG6HEV2. Production facilities for the hybrid SUV are spread across various BYD bases in cities such as Changsha, Hefei, and Jinan. The vehicle measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width, and 1,865 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm.

With a curb weight of 2,230 kilograms, the Tai 7 boasts a maximum speed of 190 kilometers per hour and comes equipped with a 1,498 ml engine producing 115 kW of power. The dual-motor version features a front motor with 160 kW peak power and a rear motor with 200 kW, while the single-motor version offers a single motor with 200 kW peak power. The SUV is powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from BYD’s battery unit, FinDreams Battery.

Fang Cheng Bao’s brand lineup currently includes models like the Bao 5 and Bao 8 off-road SUVs from the Bao series, as well as the Tai 3 compact family SUV. The Tai 7 is anticipated to target a broader family user base with its larger dimensions, making it a key contender in the competitive market segment.

In May, Fang Cheng Bao recorded impressive sales figures, with a total of 12,592 vehicles sold, marking a significant year-on-year increase of 418.19 percent. This includes 5,598 units of the Tai 3, 5,125 units of the Bao 5, and 1,869 units of the Bao 8.

The Tai 7 is set to make a significant impact in the hybrid SUV market, offering a blend of performance, technology, and spaciousness to cater to the diverse needs of modern families. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new model from Fang Cheng Bao.
