BYD sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao has introduced the Smart Driving Edition variants for its Bao 5 off-road SUV, following in the footsteps of the main BYD brand. The new Bao 5 variants come in four different options, with two featuring BYD’s God’s Eye C intelligent driving system and the other two equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 system. These variants are priced starting at RMB 239,800 ($33,090).

The lower-priced variants come with BYD’s God’s Eye C system, while the higher-priced ones use Huawei’s solution, which includes a 192-channel LiDAR on the roof. Deliveries for the BYD system-equipped variants are set to begin in mid-March, while the Huawei-equipped ones will start deliveries in April.

BYD had previously introduced its vehicle intelligence strategy and updated 21 models under the BYD brand with Smart Driving Edition features. The God’s Eye smart driving system includes God’s Eye A, God’s Eye B, and God’s Eye C, with the C variant being utilized in BYD’s more affordable models. On the other hand, Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 system offers advanced smart driving functions such as urban NOA (Navigate on Autopilot).

Fang Cheng Bao had previously launched the Bao 8 SUV with Huawei’s driver assistance system, making the Bao 5 the second vehicle under the BYD Group to incorporate Huawei’s smart driving technology. The new Bao 5 variants maintain the core specifications of the regular versions, including dimensions of 4,890 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,920 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. The SUV features dual electric motors with a total power of 505 kW and a torque of 760 Nm, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.

Fang Cheng Bao debuted in 2023 with the launch of the Bao 5 model, which was later updated with the FiPilot smart driving system. In 2024, the brand delivered 56,388 vehicles, with the Bao 5 accounting for the majority of the sales. The brand continues to expand its lineup, with new models expected to be introduced in the coming months.

Overall, the Smart Driving Edition variants of the Bao 5 offer customers a choice between BYD’s God’s Eye C system and Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 system, catering to different preferences and driving needs. With advanced smart driving features and impressive performance capabilities, the Bao 5 remains a popular choice in the SUV market.
