BYD recently celebrated a major milestone as the one millionth Dolphin Surf model rolled off the production line. This compact EV, known as the Seagull in China and the Dolphin Mini in Latin America, has been a game-changer for customers worldwide, offering a new level of experience in the electric vehicle market.
The production of the millionth Dolphin Surf took place at BYD’s factory in Xi’an, China, just 27 months after the first model was introduced. This achievement makes the Dolphin Surf the fastest-selling model in its segment in history, according to BYD. Executive Vice President Stella Li expressed excitement over this milestone, highlighting the car’s success in topping monthly sales charts and breaking barriers to sustainable mobility adoption.
The Dolphin Surf’s recent introduction in Europe is expected to further enhance the adoption of sustainable mobility in the region, where new-energy vehicles currently account for only nine percent of the A- and B-segments. The European lineup includes three trim levels: Active, Boost, and Comfort, each offering unique features and capabilities to cater to different customer needs.
The entry-level Dolphin Surf Active comes with a 30kWh battery and a 65kW motor, while the Boost variant offers a larger 43.2kWh battery for extended range. The range-topping Comfort model boasts the most powerful motor in its class, delivering impressive performance with a 0-100km/h time of just 9.1 seconds.
Every Dolphin Surf model comes equipped with a range of standard features, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking sensors, LED daytime-running lights, and more. The Boost and Comfort versions add additional luxury and convenience features, such as electrically adjustable front seats, rain-sensing wipers, and a 360-degree camera.
Overall, the Dolphin Surf has proven to be a popular choice for customers looking for a practical, flexible, and sustainable vehicle for everyday use. With one million units on the road globally, BYD’s compact EV continues to set new standards in the electric vehicle market and pave the way for a more sustainable future.
