BYD recently unveiled its latest affordable electric sedan, the Seal 06 EV, at the Chongqing auto show. This electric midsize sedan is part of BYD’s Ocean series and is the sister model of the Qin L EV from the Dynasty series. With starting prices ranging from RMB 109,800 to RMB 129,800, the Seal 06 EV offers three variants, all equipped with BYD’s lithium iron phosphate blade batteries.
The three variants of the Seal 06 EV come with different battery capacities and ranges, with the top variant offering an impressive range of up to 545 km. The sedan measures 4,720 mm in length and is powered by rear-wheel-drive motors with peak power ratings ranging from 110 kW to 160 kW. The entry-level variant can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in just 4.1 seconds.
One of the key highlights of the Seal 06 EV is its fast-charging capability, with a peak charging power of 103 kW. This enables the sedan to charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 24 minutes. Additionally, the Seal 06 EV is equipped with BYD’s God’s Eye C smart driving system, featuring the DiPilot 100 solution that utilizes a camera-based vision system instead of LiDAR.
The launch of the Seal 06 EV expands BYD’s Seal family lineup, which includes a range of hybrid and all-electric sedan models. The Seal family has seen strong sales performance, with BYD selling 382,476 vehicles in May, including 25,587 units from the Seal family alone. This marks a significant increase in sales compared to the previous year, showcasing the growing demand for affordable EVs in the market.
With a focus on affordability and advanced technology, the Seal 06 EV represents BYD’s commitment to expanding its presence in the electric vehicle market. As the company continues to innovate and introduce new models, it is poised to meet the evolving needs of consumers and drive the adoption of electric vehicles worldwide.
