BYD has recently introduced its Sealion 07 electric SUV in Nepal, where it is known as Sealion 7. This marks the sixth model by BYD in the Nepalese market, showcasing the company’s continued expansion in overseas territories. The launch of the Sealion 07 took place on July 24, with a starting price of 7.499 million Nepalese rupees ($53,620).
This electric SUV is the fourth pure electric vehicle offered by BYD in Nepal, joining the Atto 3, Dolphin, Seal, and M6 MPV models available through BYD’s distributor in Nepal, Cimex Inc. The Atto 3, also known as the Yuan Plus in China, is one of the offerings in the Nepalese market.
The Sealion 07 is part of BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo technology platform, which was launched in China in May 2024. The Sealion 07 series includes the all-electric Sealion 07 EV and the hybrid Sealion 07 DM-i in China, with the former starting at RMB 189,800 ($26,390).
BYD’s entry into the Nepalese market began a few years ago when the BYD e6 was included in the Nepalese presidential fleet in 2018. The company officially entered the passenger vehicle market in Nepal in October 2022 with the introduction of the Atto 3.
In terms of sales performance, BYD Group reported selling 382,585 NEVs in June, representing an 11.98 percent year-on-year increase. Additionally, the company achieved a milestone in overseas sales, with 90,049 vehicles sold in June, marking the seventh consecutive month of record sales. This impressive performance reflects a 233.58 percent year-on-year increase in overseas sales.
With BYD’s consistent growth and expansion into new markets, the introduction of the Sealion 07 in Nepal further solidifies the company’s position as a key player in the global electric vehicle market. As BYD continues to innovate and introduce new models, its presence in overseas markets is expected to strengthen, contributing to the company’s continued success in the EV industry.
