A new electric sedan from BYD has recently been unveiled by a government ministry and is dubbed the e7. This new model has sparked interest due to its relatively lightweight design considering its size and the return of the “e” naming convention that BYD had moved away from in recent years.
The e7 shares similarities in dimensions with BYD’s all-electric Seal model, with a length of 4780 mm, width of 1900 mm, height of 1515 mm, and a wheelbase of 2820 mm. This suggests that the e7 may be a more affordable version of the Seal, as indicated by its traditional-style door handles rather than hidden ones, which could help reduce production costs.
Both versions of the e7 listed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology feature a TZ180XSJ electric motor producing 100 kW of power, allowing the car to reach a top speed of 150 km/h. The use of 16-inch wheels and BYD’s lithium iron phosphate blade battery further indicate a focus on cost reduction and maximizing range.
While details on the battery capacity are still unknown, the e7 is expected to cater to the taxi or ride-hailing market, similar to the e5 model. With its affordable pricing and efficient design, the e7 could potentially be a popular choice for urban transportation services.
Overall, the e7 represents BYD’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup and providing practical and cost-effective solutions for the growing demand for electric transportation. Stay tuned for more updates on this intriguing new model from BYD.
