BYD, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, is currently offering discounts on three models in its Ocean series. This move seems to be aimed at clearing inventory of older models following the launch of Smart Driving Edition updates.
One of the models receiving a discount is the non-Smart Driving version of the Seal 06 DM-i hybrid sedan, which is now priced at RMB 89,800 ($12,360) after a 10 percent reduction from its original price of RMB 99,800. Similarly, the entry-level variant of the Seal 07 DM-i hybrid sedan is now priced at RMB 129,800, down by RMB 10,000 or 7.15 percent from its original price of RMB 139,800.
Additionally, the non-Smart Driving version of the entry-level variant of the Song Plus DM-i hybrid SUV has also received a discount, with its price now set at RMB 119,800 after a reduction of RMB 16,000 or 11.78 percent from the official guide price of RMB 135,800.
Interested buyers can reach out to BYD dealers for more information on these discounted models.
BYD recently introduced a smart driving strategy and updated 21 models in its Dynasty and Ocean series with Smart Driving Edition features. These updates focus on enhancing the vehicles’ smart driving capabilities while maintaining the same price as their predecessors. Following the launch of these updates, BYD’s website no longer displays non-Smart Driving variants.
The Ocean series and Dynasty series are part of BYD’s brand new energy vehicles (NEVs) lineup. In 2024, the BYD Group, which includes brands like BYD, Denza, Fang Cheng Bao, and Yangwang, sold a total of 4,272,145 NEVs, marking a 41.26 percent increase from the previous year. The Dynasty series accounted for 49.11 percent of the group’s sales, while the Ocean series contributed 45.56 percent.
Looking ahead, BYD aims to sell 5.5 million vehicles in 2025, with over 800,000 units targeted for overseas markets. This ambitious goal was announced by the company’s chairman and president, Wang Chuanfu, in a recent report by local media LatePost.
In other news, BYD has unveiled a new EV platform called the Super e-Platform, which features redesigned blade batteries and supports a charging multiplier of up to 10 C. The platform will debut with the launch of the Han L and Tang L models in early April.
Overall, BYD continues to innovate and expand its electric vehicle offerings, setting ambitious sales targets and introducing cutting-edge technologies to drive the future of sustainable transportation.
