BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) and Chinese drone maker DJI have come together to introduce a groundbreaking vehicle-mounted drone system called Ling Yuan. This innovative system aims to transform vehicles into mobile entertainment spaces, providing users with a unique and immersive experience on the go.

The integration of a drone with the vehicle gives the vehicle a vertical field of view, allowing it to capture moments of travel from a new perspective. The system features a drone hangar, a drone, an on-board positioning module handle, as well as the Ling Yuan App, AI recognition software, and image and music editing software provided by BYD.

The drone hangar, when unfolded, covers an area of 0.29 square meters with a thickness of 21.5 cm. The system supports dynamic takeoff and landing of the drone at speeds up to 25 km/h and automatic return within a 2 km range. The drone is capable of following the vehicle at speeds up to 54 km/h and can autonomously return to recharge its battery when it reaches 20% capacity, recharging from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes.

The Ling Yuan system is designed to enhance the driving experience by adding a new dimension of entertainment and socialization to the vehicle. BYD Chairman and President, Wang Chuanfu, emphasized that consumers seek more than just transportation – they desire a mobile space for entertainment and social interaction.

The Ling Yuan system will be available for all brands under the BYD umbrella and is priced at RMB 16,000 ($2,200). The initial models that will support this system include the Yangwang U8, Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8, Fang Cheng Bao Tai 3, Denza N9, BYD Sealion 07 DM-i, and BYD Tang L. Additionally, the drone version of the Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8 was launched with a price range of RMB 395,800 to 423,800 yuan.
